<title><![CDATA[Drive-by shooting reported at Stamford mayor's home]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<B>News 12 Connecticut is reporting</B> that Stamford Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at the home of Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy Tuesday.<br /><br />Investigators were called to Malloy&#8217;s Ocean Drive East home before 8 p.m. Flood lights lit up the scene as police examined and collected evidence. At least one bullet hole was visible on the façade of the home.<br /><br />The mayor was out of town at the time of the shooting, but his family was home. However, police say no one was hurt.<br /><br />Authorities say three arrests have been made. ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[JANESVILLE, Wis. -- A 4-year-old boy accidentally started a fire that killed his 7-year-old brother and injured his 2-year-old sibling in Janesville, Wis., during the weekend, according to authorities.<br /><br />Derek Mattingly, 7, was killed in the fire that broke out on Saturday morning on North Palm Street on the city's northwest side. His 2-year-old brother was flown to a Milwaukee hospital. He's recovering and currently listed in improved condition, Madison station WISC reported.<br /><br />Officials said that the boys' father, the 4-year-old and the boys' grandmother escaped.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[MERIDEN, CT -- A 12-year-old girl is being credited with alerting residents of a Meriden home of a fire.  WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Leon Collins reported that the girl saw flames in the Bunker Avenue home and pulled the building's call box to alert the fire department.<br /><br />Officials said the girl then ran back inside and began banging on apartment doors to alert neighbors of the fire. Residents called the girl's actions heroic.  Her name has not been released.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Bill would end ban of paid firefighters volunteering]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[HARTFORD, CT - The General Assembly has passed House Bill 5646 that stops cities and towns from banning their paid firefighters from serving as volunteer firefighters in their home towns.<br /><br />The Senate gave the bill final legislative approval on Wednesday. It now heads to Gov. M. Jodi Rell for her signature.<br /><br />Over the years, several towns with paid fire departments have enacted bans, including East Hartford and New Britain. Most recently, Hartford decided to enact this prohibition, effective July 1.<br /><br />The bill applies to paid firefighters who volunteer during their personal time.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[State Trooper, Craig Murray, 38, Dies]]></title>

(May 7, 2008) -- Former University of Connecticut fullback Craig Murray passed away of natural causes on Saturday at age 38 while camping with his family in Ashford, Conn. After UConn, Murray went on to serve in the Connecticut State Police where he worked as a detective and was most recently assigned to the State Police forensic polygraph examiner unit.<br /><br />Murray entered the State Police Academy in November of 1994. He served with Troop A in Southbury, Troop G in Bridgeport and later Troop C in Tolland when he relocated with his family to Stafford Springs. He also served as a popular School Resource Officer at E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield. In 2007, he requested an assignment as a State Police polygraph examiner and successfully completed his coursework at the elite polygraph examiners school to earn that assignment.<br /><br />The funeral with full State Police Department honors will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday May 10 at John E. Julian Heritage Park Stafford St., Stafford Springs. Calling hours are on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs. <description><![CDATA[To those of you who were not seeing the website properly in the past few days; I have fixed the problem.  <br /><br />It had to do with older versions of Internet Explorer not unterstanding the HTML code.  If you had a problem, may I suggest upgrading your Internet Explorer to the latest version (it's FREE).<br /><br />Better yet, go to <A HREF="FireFox.com" TARGET="_blank">Firefox.com</A> and download Firefox 2.x (if is also FREE). Firefox is what I recommend.  It works a LOT better than MS IE because it has fewer bugs and quirks. ]]></description>
